There are a number of people that I want to thank and recognize for the work and support. I have used a great deal of their research in putting this together as well as receiving great inspiration from what they did.

Ivan Simmonds. (1909-1998). He was my mother's cousin whom she called, "like a brother." He did it the old fashioned way. He prepared his book, "The Genealogy of Heinrich Christian Meyer and Sophie Beckman Meyer,"  before the day of computers with a typewriter. He obtained his sources from personal knowledge, letter and hard work.

Karen S. Rowe. She has been the source of a lot of my information and her website has provide much of the inspiration to undertake this project. One should not get very far into genealogy without visiting her website at:

Ellen Ryan. She is one of my new-found cousins. I was hunting through the St. James Lutheran Church 125th Anniversary book, looking for Meyer's (see Meyer in Ivan Simmonds book). After several telephone calls to various Meyer's, I  found Ellen. She has provided a lot of information, including pictures, that connected me with other cousins. She lives in Lincoln, Nebraska. Email

Dolores Hahn. I made contact with her from Ellen Ryan. She also lives in Lincoln as well as Karen Rowe. Ellen claims that Dolores is the leading expert on our family, and rightly so. She provided information for making more connections to persons that lived in Nemaha County, Nebraska and Clayton County, Iowa.

Roberta Essex Everett. Delores Hahn gave me a name of a lady in California that had put together a book on the Roeckemann's. Heinrich Christian Meyer's mother was a Roeckemann and when I received the book, it was a goldmine of information about many newfound cousins in Nemaha County, Nebraska and S.E. of Athol, Smith County, Kansas ...  some that I knew but didn't know they were relation.
