Roger Earl Raebel, the son of George and Bertha (Groscost) Raebel, was born March 9, 1929, in Montevideo, Minnesota, where he spent his youth and attended grade school. He graduated from Concordia Preparatory School, St. Paul in 1946, Concordia College, St. Paul in 1949, and Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, in 1954. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Luebken on June 20, 1954 in Sioux City, Iowa.

Pastor Raebel served congregations in Dow City/Buck Grove, Iowa, from 1954-1957, Amenia/Grandin, North Dakota, from 1957-1960, El Dorado, Kan. from 1960-1966, and Red Lake Falls from 1966-1994. While in Red Lake Falls, he served on the School Board, Hospital Board, Housing and Urban Development, and the Minnesota North District Mission Board. Pastor Raebel enjoyed researching family genealogy and German history.

It was his desire and joy to host six foreign exchange students for the full school year from 1984-1989. The couple retired to New Ulm in 1994. He spent 10 years teaching AARP 55 Alive in New Ulm and southwestern Minnesota. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm. He remained active in preaching God's Word and Bible studies as interim pastor in area churches and Sunday pulpit supply. He continually expressed and demonstrated his love and commitment to his family, who will miss him dearly, but rejoice with the assurance of his eternal peace and glory in God's Heavenly Kingdom.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of New Ulm; daughter, Cynthia; sons, David, Rev. Jared Raebel, Stephen; 11 grandchildren; sister, Joan.

In addition to his parents, Pastor Raebel was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Laura Namanny in 1985; and his brothers, Clifford, Donald and Harvey Raebel. The couple retired to New Ulm in 1994. He spent 10 years teaching AARP 55 Alive in New Ulm and southwestern Minnesota.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of New Ulm; daughter, Cynthia; sons, David, Rev. Jared Raebel, Stephen; 11 grandchildren; sister, Joan Hempeck.

In addition to his parents, Pastor Raebel was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Laura in 1985; and his brothers, Clifford, Donald and Harvey Raebel.
