Rev. Rowland Miller The Rev. Rowland A. Miller, 86, Topeka, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at a Topeka retirement community. Rev. Miller served various churches in Kansas --- at Marion from 1941 to 1943, Scott City from 1943 to 1948, Alma and McFarland from 1968 to 1980 --- and in retirement was a visitation pastor for St. John's Lutheran Church in Topeka. He also served churches in New Mexico at Santa Fe from 1948 to 1954 and at Hobbs from 1959 to 1968. He was born March 28, 1914, in Topeka, the son of L. Guy and Anna Senne Miller. He graduated from Topeka High School and later from St. John's College in Winfield and Concordia Theological Seminary at St. Louis. Mr. Miller was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Topeka and the Lutheran Laymen's League. He married Edna Mae Shields on Dec. 11, 1940, in Topeka. She preceded him in death Sept. 24, 1993. Survivors include a son, Alan G. Miller, Shawnee; two daughters, Ruth Miller, Topeka, and Virginia Radtke, Lincoln; a brother, Harold Miller, Topeka; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be after 8 a.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel.
