Reverend Eugene Schmidt

Pastor Schmidt was born in Freeland, Michigan. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1951 from Concordia Teachers College, River Forest, Illinois, where he majored in Education. In 1955 he graduated from Concordia Seminary in Saint Louis, Missouri, receiving the Master of Divinity Degree. He was awarded the Honorary Degree: Doctor of Laws and Letters from Concordia College in Seward, Nebraska, in 1987.
Pastor Schmidt has a long and distinguished career in the Lutheran Church. He was a teacher at Zion Lutheran School in Granton, Wisconsin from 1949 to 1950. He served as Pastor at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Durango, Colorado, and Grace Lutheran Church in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1980 Pastor Schmidt was called to serve the Kansas District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod as the Executive Secretary for Missions and Stewardship, and in 1984 he was elected President of the Kansas District where he served until his retirement in 1994.
